There’s a difference between not making a decision, and not making a decision yet. The former is an abdication of responsibility, the latter an acknowledgment you might not have all the information you need to decide. If, as you choose what type of service to undertake, you decide the latter applies to you, that’s okay. Just be clear about what you’re waiting for, and what missing information would change your mind.

I waited years before deciding I could serve society better as a writer, and once I made my choice, I wondered what the hell I’d been waiting for.
